Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) in London, was raised by her mother, grandmother, and godparents. Her father left her family. While she was a small girl, she struggled with an obsessional disorder and suffered from anxiety due to the word"association. Ford's passion for acting started as a child. She joined the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of weeks, she realized Sylvia Young Theatre School was not the right place suitable for her. Ford decided to apply for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement at the third time made an application and secured an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character in Doctor Who. Ford's first appearance on television was an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate first appeared on television in 1991and appeared on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Tate would also frequently work as a theatre actor and was eventually a part of in the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season between 2000 and 2001. But Tate quickly began gaining notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her show in 1996.
